New home & new life - Singapore

[location: Singapore]
[mood: tired, but ok]
[music: U2 & MJ Blige - One]

Just read across my last entry - munich. Hmm ... it has been a while since I've added another entry to my blog, but I think today is a good day and I will finally be able to finish this one ;)

Let's quickly see, what happened in the last couple of weeks:
Mentioned earlier already, I've left Germany again and flew back to Singapore. It is offical now - No more consultant - finally a permanent employee.
Quite interesting, my sister gave me a book to read, while I was back home - it is called 'Fra - Muc - Fra' (These are the airport codes for Frankfurt / Munich / Frankfurt).
The book is written from 2 ex-consultants and they describe the daily life of consultants - and how they slowly drift from highly professional experts in every matter towards a modern way of slavery (they even call it 'modern prostit*****').

Sounds awkward, but now I think this is quite funny - I read the book and I really have to admit that so much of it is actually true... Can't remember, when I had this 'I_know_exactly_what_you_mean-effect' last time so often.

One part - propably my favorite one - is this weird feeling to get onto a new project.
You don't know people there, you always think the others are soooo experienced and soooo professional. You are honored to be part of this extra-ordinary group.
It will last for about 1 - 2 days and then you realize that they don't really know what they are talking about.

But let's better stop here ... It is indeed a conflict of interest for me, to talk bad about consulting, whereas I did that job for such a long time.

Nevertheless, I met a lot of new friends and am happy to went through all of it.

Another interesting book - I really, really recommend it to all people: Paulo Coelho - The alchemist & 11 minutes.
Very, very good books.

What else did I do for the past couple of weeks - let me think:
Oh yeah ... moved in with friends now and am officially part of a shared flat now - Only for a couple of weeks though, but good to be surrounded by a wild party crew.

In the past 3 weeks, we had 3 public holidays and were able to enjoy long weekends. I am getting sooo lazy - outsch ...

Uh ... I forgot - I am now again up2date in matters of technology gadgets. Tee hee ...
Basically it started that I was to bloody stupid and lost my mobile phone - argh ... all my collected phone numbers were gone.
So I went to the city and bought a new one: O2 - Atom (geek alert: Wi-Fi / Bluetooth / 2 GB memory / 2 MP cam ...) *wOOt_wOOt* ... Surfing the web while running around in the city, using MSN messenger (THANKS TO XEN & MS *g*) ... Pretty neat.

But of course a phone alone doesn't count - so I bought myself a laptop as well. I got a laptop from work, but this one was crap. Jezzz... Until it restarted, you could go for an half an hour nap. It was a real emergency situation - I HAD TO GET A NEW ONE (at least the little devil on my shoulder said so).
Wohoo ... about 2 hrs later I found my new baby and was happy to carry it home with me. ACER travelMate (2 GB RAM / 120 GB / 2.12 Intel Centrino Dual Core ...)
Yeah I know ... I am showing off .... bla bla bla ... I was just soooo happy to dig around in the world of computer & mobiles for a bit.

Sitting at work right now and have plenty of unfinished tasks - argh ... dowan! (Singlish for: Don't want ...)
Tomorrow is another public holiday and I assume this will be another long night, travelling through the Singapore nightlife.

Just found another good page - you should read:
